Westfield Carindale is a large shopping center in Queensland, located on the outskirts of Carindale, east of Brisbane. Ctrea is one of Australia’s largest shopping malls. Ctrea has more than 450 private shops and approximately 6,000 parking spaces. Other features include a dining hall, the Brisbane City Council library and the modern Glasshouse dining hall.

First opened in 1979, it was Brisbane’s largest commercial building (116,884 square meters or 1,258,139 sq ft). In 1996, Suncorp was taken over by Suncorp Property Trust.

In March 1999, Queensland became the first to have two major department stores in one building.
It was managed by Jones Lang LaSalle for two decades until October 1999, when Westfield Group acquired 50% of Suncorps.
Westfield’s bid was successful and the trust took the lead in addition to rebranding Carindale Property Trust.
Suncorp sold the remaining 50% Suncorp Property Fund in 2001 to Ld Lease Companies, Australia’s first property fund.

In October 2010, Westfield Carindale underwent a $3 million redevelopment that added approximately 22,000 square feet of retail space. 29 March 2012 Phase one of the development of over 75 new shopping centres, a Coles supermarket on the 2nd floor and a relocated Target discount superstore.
Phase Two opened in cinemas on 9 August 2012, with a strong focus on Australian and International brands.
Top brands such as Adidas, Aesop, Kookai, Leona Edmiston, Marc, Mecca Maxima, Saba, Scots & Soda have unveiled new barriers. Other features of the redevelopment include a new Brisbane City Council library, a new restaurant (The Glasshouse) and an improved parking management system including parking assistance. Westfield Carindale was home to the newest Evt Cinemas complex in Queensland until a new complex opened in the Northern Lakes in 2015.
In December 2013, Carindale opened its first children’s playroom, Play Up, on level 3 near the Go to Health gym. Children can be dropped off for a maximum of 2 hours while parties shop and watch our staff perform.
