Tulip Inn Dam Square Amsterdam – Every year on the 3rd Saturday in January, people in the Netherlands celebrate National Tulip Day. Amsterdam’s Dam Square turns into a huge tulip garden full of flowers. Everyone is invited to pick a bouquet!
National Tulip Day has been celebrated in Dam Square since 2012. On this day, the tulip season begins. It’s #zeitwortulfen!

You may have noticed that visitors pick flowers with bulbs. Don’t worry! That’s how it should be. The bulb has already used all its energy on the tulip, so it will not bloom again.

At the end of the Amsterdam Winter Festival, it’s time to start the tulip season. This is celebrated every year with National Tulip Day. On this day you can pick a bunch of white tulips in Dam Square in the center of Amsterdam.

If you are in Amsterdam on the third Saturday in January, you are very lucky. There are usually no tulips to enjoy in January, but on the third Saturday of January it is National Tulip Day in Amsterdam! With this special event, the Dutch celebrate the beginning of the tulip season. From this day on, the tulips will be promoted in the flower shop.
Visitors are allowed to pick tulips for free in a specially designed tulip picking garden. There will be around 200,000 tulips in the garden for free.
The pick-up garden is the best place to pick beautiful tulips for your hotel room, but you can also take beautiful photos with tulips.

The tulips that you can pick in the tulip garden are grown indoors. In large greenhouses farmers grow tulips from November / December. The tulip fields near Amsterdam only begin to bloom at the end of March. Please follow our flower weather.
