Our doctors issue wholesale bills to all inpatients and disabled patients, as well as DVA Gold card holders. A small out-of-pocket fee applies to all other patients, payable by credit or debit card at the time of your visit. Credit card payments are accepted. The doctor does not carry cash with him. After 11 p.m., the Medicare discount applies to all emergency patients. In order to get this discount, Medicare requires your doctor to certify that you have an emergency (ie, your condition could get worse by 8am the next day). Consultations should take place via video call, not a regular phone call.
The discount is much higher than standard discounts. So while the total fee you pay is higher, your deductible is also higher by the same amount, and the amount of your out-of-pocket shortfall remains the same.
If the doctor cannot justify to Medicare that there is a risk of your condition getting worse before 8am, they cannot bill for the emergency item, but will be billed for the consultation before 11pm.

It is difficult to determine what is an emergency because Medicare provides very little guidance. Our front desk staff can check your problem with your doctor before your consultation and let you know when you will be billed for volume or billing.

As a mixed billing practice, some of our GPs will offer bundled billing to patients with a valid health or pension card. Contact the practice for more information about which specialists will give you advice on group billing. Otherwise, our fees are $82 for a standard consultation with a Medicare rebate of $37.05.
