Russell Square London Accommodation

When we booked our flights to London, we were excited to start planning our accommodation. We vary our accommodation from Airbnb to hotels on our travels, but for our place in London we wanted to stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy. There were many reasons why we chose this hotel, one of which was that it was central to all our planned activities.

My New Favourite London Hotel: A Review Of The Kimpton Fitzroy

Before going inside, we were kindly greeted by the doormen and asked to carry our bags. One of them took us straight to the front desk and from there we were given the keys to our room. We didn’t have to deal with anyone, everyone was professional, friendly and happily answered all the questions we had.

There was another manager, Paul, who was very friendly and gave us the opportunity to show us his favorite places inside the hotel. The Kimpton Fitzroy is a historic hotel, built in 1898, and recently renovated; However, most of the artifacts still exist.

Paul pointed to a beautiful staircase made of Pyrenean marble, which is still the original marble stone and mentioned that it would cost a fortune today to have this type of marble in hotels. Classic and contemporary design are well blended together throughout the hotel and we can’t stop admiring the beauty of the hotel.

Interesting fact about this hotel: It was designed by the architect who designed the RMS, Charles Fitzroy Doll.

. The hotel also has “Lucky George”, a bronze dragon on the second floor of the staircase, a replica of the same.

Getting to our room was quick because their elevators worked well. This is one of those elevators where you enter your floor number and it assigns you to an elevator with little or no interference. The room was too big for the two of us and we settled into our room before checking in at 3PM. Before we arrived in London, we received a welcome email asking questions about our upcoming stay and our arrival before check-in. Since we answered “yes”, we believe it helped them prepare for our early arrival.

Our beautiful room was bigger than we expected with two double beds to the left and a separate lounge to the right with a sofa, table and TV. It was nice to have this little space away from the bed when we wanted to eat our food or relax somewhere other than our bed.

The bathroom was spacious with a rain shower and a removable shower head. It was stocked with basic toiletries and if we needed more, there was a convenient range right above the sink. You can request anything from mobile phone chargers to lint rollers and airport security bags. This was a very broad list. We noticed that the list also includes a salon hair dryer which we thought was interesting because we didn’t see the accessory listed, but we’re happy with what’s already in our room.

Towels were plentiful and hung on heated irons. Crystal loved the towels because they were large and decorative. The sink was a good size but with limited room it was a challenge to put all our things near the sink. For one person, this wouldn’t be a problem but if we are two women, we have a lot of hair care products and makeup that we always keep around the sink. A very small issue, but something to be aware of.

If we wanted tea or coffee, the room was stocked with Nespresso and English coffee. There was also a fridge with drinks. There was plenty of space in the fridge if you wanted to store some of your things there.

We don’t usually spend a ton of time at the properties we stay at because we always have a tight schedule of things to do on our travels, but we do set aside time to enjoy the food on site as they all look absolutely stunning. it is attractive. .

We were surprised when we were invited to Kimpton’s nightly happy hour. They host it every day and serve wine and beer from 5 to 6 p.m. Kimpton staff are on hand to greet guests and it’s a relaxing time to mingle with everyone.

We thought it was a great idea and even better if the wine available was from local wine producers. The place is surrounded by lots of greenery and a tall glass ceiling, which puts your mind and body at ease. We really enjoyed our wine and the service was great. As the entertainment drew to a close, we were kindly reminded that we wanted to enjoy ourselves with another glass of wine.

We were hoping to have time for a few cocktails here, but ran out of time. However, we wanted to mention this bar because it is beautifully decorated. We put our heads together the day before and went to an early dinner and this cocktail combination exuded luxury. From the velor sofas to the huge glittering disco ball, it definitely had a fun speapeasy vibe.

We loved the airy and bright atmosphere of this cafe and had breakfast here twice. The food is reasonably priced and the coffee is great. We loved their egg and spicy dish so much that we ordered it again on our second visit. We noticed that apart from hotel guests, there were many locals passing by to do some work or conduct informal business meetings.

We were craving dessert one night on the way back to the hotel and luckily Neptune had a dessert menu. Also, the decor here was amazing and very beautiful. We loved the pink velvet chairs and peach roof. A pewter-topped bar took center stage and made the entire space shine. We decided to share a basket of freshly fried donuts with a variety of sauces. The donuts were still warm and delicious and we finished them in minutes.

We could not have asked for a better location. We were just a few steps away from Russell Square station as it was just around the corner from the hotel. There were plenty of casual and good restaurants outside the hotel, which we indulged in both on our first night. There is also a 24 hour convenience store where we stopped twice to get medicine, snacks and food. water

We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again. The service was outstanding and the location was beautiful. It was wonderful to have a beautiful room in a beautiful hotel, but what made our stay even more special was the hospitality of the staff. They made us feel really welcome and called us every night to see if we would make it to their chat time. We really appreciate that everyone is caring, friendly and approachable.
