Box Hill is within the Hills County Council and covers an area of approximately 9.4 square kilometres. It is part of the Greater Western Sydney region of New South Wales and is 42 kilometers north-west from sydney The northern part of the suburb was reassigned to the newly formed suburb of Gables in 2020, with the acquisition of a small area of Rouse Hill to the southeast.
