Of road vehicles produced each year. If we want to save our planet, we need to act now to improve sustainability, reduce gas emissions and work towards a sustainable future, and it’s not as difficult as you might think.
An in-depth study found that in 12 months, Cadman Cranes produces an average of 673 tonnes of CO.
, and this 533 tons only using red diesel in its fleet of mobile cranes. With a strong support strategy in place, an Essex-based crane business has taken the lead in what could be considered one of the biggest changes to face the mobile crane industry, becoming the first UK mobile crane business always switching from diesel. and HVO, a green volatile oil.
Cadman Cranes has switched 100% of its crane fleet to alternative fuel before the end of 2021 and, as part of the Milbank Group, the switch is playing an important role in the group’s sustainability initiatives which will help it to be clean . planet Earth.

“We’re a mobile crane company and we can’t help but get these big trucks on the road. But we can do it in the best possible way by investing in major advances in green technology. The green leaf is now available.”
Of 514 tonnes per year and our carbon footprint reduced by 73% overall. This is in addition to the great air quality caused by a significant reduction of nitrogen oxides and small amounts. The benefits of switching to HVO are undeniable and for Cadman Cranes it is an important first step in our journey towards net zero carbon. “
But the benefits don’t stop at Cadman Cranes. With the ‘Environment Bill’ (designed to protect and improve our environment for future generations) now coming into UK law, we will soon see many new regulations and targets for domestic workers . Calculations have shown that by using HVO biofuel in its cranes, Cadman has helped customers reduce their carbon emissions per payment by more than 98%, contributing to their sustainability goals while improving the atmosphere for workers and the earth.

HVO complies with EN 15940 and the fuel quality directive 2009/30/EC annex II, so it can be used directly as an alternative to diesel. It can be used without changing equipment or budget, removing cost barriers and making the process more efficient. Synthesized from free fat and vegetable oil, it is renewable, sustainable and 100% biodegradable, well mixed with the original. It is easily approved by many OEM engine manufacturers and comes with an impressive 10-year warranty.
Cadman understands the importance of protecting both his community and the environment and accepts that working towards a sustainable future will not be enough. They are committed to continuous research and development to ensure that they are always moving forward and moving in the right direction. They are currently investigating the possibility of using HVO in the rest of their fleet and support vehicles, as well as being fully electrified wherever possible – an important development to reduce carbon emissions going forward.
As part of their future plans, they are reviewing support systems and evaluating their effectiveness to provide options for improvement. They work closely with their supply chain to ensure that all the companies they work with have the same environmental goals and offer support wherever possible to help do things together.
Cadman Cranes operates a wide range of compact crawler, truck-mounted and all-terrain cranes from its base in Essex across the UK. They offer CPA crane hire and contract lifting packages, are renowned for both safety and professionalism, have over 50 years experience and are trusted by the UK’s leading construction companies. Embracing innovation is key to success in the crane rental business. The Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 incorporates this system from Borger Cranes. Over the past 18 months, Borger’s crane hire and rigging services have continued to experience strong growth and expansion in Queensland with new cranes being added to the fleet.

The business expanded into Queensland with the purchase of Kelly Green Crane Hire and there have been several additions to the crane fleet, including a Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 all-in-one, the first of its kind in the country. Borger CEO Shawn Borger provides insight into growth plans and details on new additions.
“The main plan is to expand into the Queensland market. Overall, the development has been good, maybe more than expected, but there is still a lot of work to be done. In fact, we have established a great brand in the Brisbane market and Both have been busy with work.Keep in mind that this can be the case when you are trying to generate new business while servicing your existing customers.
“Business is growing in Queensland. We started with about 20 cranes across the reserve, and now we have 30. I can see the fleet continuing at the recent level and Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympics. There’s no doubt there will be more infrastructure and infrastructure needed to prepare for the Olympics,” Borger said.
“We are careful to retain and hire the right people who fit the culture and nature of our business. Many have been handpicked to help create a team environment and great workplace. The key to our success until now it’s the result of working together and having the right cranes.

“From what I’ve seen, I’d say the Queensland market is getting stronger every day. Fortunately, we’re not in any one industry sector. We operate in a number of sectors including infrastructure, construction, mining and innovation, including wind facilities and services .We cross many sectors because when one company shows signs of slowing down, we move our cranes and workers to help other companies grow.
“The infrastructure sector is very much known as infrastructure at the moment and we’re keeping a lot of our work in those areas. The renewables sector is primed for growth in Queensland and we’ve got some interesting infrastructure to come.” We will always be ahead of the game by investing in the right technology,” Berger said.
“The Sydney and Newcastle operations are also doing well. In 2020, we bought a lot of new cranes for those projects to keep up with the number of jobs we can see on pipelines and vessels that are doing well. Like most businesses of cranes, the equipment sector has kept our fleet busy, particularly large cranes, and we can see this being the case over the next 12 to 24 months.
“The renewables sector in New South Wales is also performing and we have seen the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 being used to great effect in the construction and maintenance of wind farms across the state. We have the ability to move cranes between operations in Ours has what we call “The Big Crane Program.” This helps our supervisors monitor the availability of cranes up and down the East Coast. Cranes can’t be in two places, so that we carefully monitor working hours to make sure we have the right cranes for the right job,” he said.

There have been several recent additions to the Borger Crane fleet, including the Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1. Borger explains the reasons for some of these additions.
“We purchased the Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 primarily to upgrade our 500t cranes with new technology and increased capacity. The LTM 1650 will be based in Sydney and we have already regularly moved one of our 500t cranes to Brisbane. We think very carefully about adding the 650t capacity crane. It does not support the LTM 1750 because they are two very different cranes.
“That said, the 750 can work just as well as the 650 to cover the job while the 650 is busy with another job. Obviously the LTM 1650 can’t increase the capabilities of the 750, but we have the job and Brisbane recently where a crane of 500 t capacity was not strong enough and the 750 was too big to fit in the place. The 650 was the answer and
