Sometimes they are just salt and nothing else, or sometimes there is so much rosemary that it overpowers everything else in the rib seasoning.
When I make my own pork rib rub recipe, I go heavy on the spices I like (scallions, garlic powder, onion powder) and leave out the mild ones or the ones I don’t like as much. I do the same for the delicious potato pancake flavor.
Although salt is the main ingredient in dry rubs for walls (like most dry rubs), I sometimes refer to it as a brown sugar rub because there is less of it.
The nutty flavor of brown sugar is a great way to add sweetness to savory dishes, and it’s also the main ingredient in my harissa barbecue sauce.

This balance of salt and sugar in the rib flavor means that the finished rib has a sweet and savory quality. Chili powder and paprika give the ribs a deep brick red color, while mustard and cayenne give them a little kick.
Short answer: at least 15 minutes, but it’s up to you, there really isn’t a wrong answer.
Long answer: It depends on how deep the flavor is and whether or not you’re using a sauce. The longer the dry ribs are on the grill, the deeper the flavor.
If you prefer to smoke or grill the ribs with just a dry rub (no sauce), you may want a more pronounced flavor than rubber because you’re the only flavoring. In this case, I usually scrub the ribs in the morning and refrigerate them all day before grilling.

However, if you want to baste the ribs with a thick and sticky barbecue sauce (like my country pork ribs), you can rub the ribs and cook them after 15 minutes.
One final note: Do not let the rub sit on the meat for more than 12 hours. Also, as the meat heals, it begins to dry out.

I do not use this pork rib rub recipe on the ribs. Since there’s always a jar in the cupboard, I grab it for any grilled meat, like steak, chicken, or even salmon! It’s also great with short ribs for a quick casserole.
