Festival Of Flowers Toowoomba 2016 – If there’s a haze of color in the South East Queensland sky this month other than the Northern Lights, it’s the colors of more than 124,000 amazing flowers as they bloom in spectacular style to mark the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
Queensland’s iconic event, which runs from 16 to 25 September, is 10 days of flowers, tastes and sounds, featuring more than 50 events and experiences including internationally acclaimed music acts, award-winning gardens, local guided tours, and food and wine .

The Flowers, Food and Wine Festival has an impressive music line-up – singer-songwriter Tim Finn; The Whitlams perform with the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra; Queensland singer Katie Noonan, as well as Tokyo Birds, Montaigne, Emma Louise, The Chantoozies, Eurogliders and Models. Brisbane superstar DJ Mashd N Kutcher will be playing at Sideshow Alley.

Last week, we drove 125km west of Brisbane to visit “The Garden City” of Toowoomba, in the Darling Downs region of Queensland. The occasion is the Carnival of Flowers, Toowoomba’s premier garden event, now in its 67th year. Thousands of people flock to Australia’s sixteenth largest city, to witness the annual display of freshly cut lawns, colorful flowers, potted gardens and decorative floats.

At Laurel Bank Park, there is a beautiful display of “Music in the Park” flower beds – interspersed with freshly cut lawns – along with a variety of colorful seasonal flowers in the surrounding area.

One tip though: if you’re planning to visit the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers next year, remember to pack an extra jumper. There is a good 5-7 degree difference in temperature, both day and night, which took some men used to spoil us Brisbane and Sunshine Coast people.
