If you like your Mayan ruins with a touch of disco, then you’ve come to the right place. Located in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, this ancient city comes alive when the sun goes down with a (slight, but inevitable) glow and light. The area is dominated by El Castillo, a large pyramid with 91 steps running on all four sides.
If you’re going to try climbing anywhere, the Pacuare River in Costa Rica is the place. Surrounded by cascading waterfalls and lush rainforest, this hot spring is perfect for beginners. When it’s quiet, keep your eyes open for monkeys, toucans, ocelots and monkeys.
