For most new owners, your car may have privacy glass as standard or as an optional extra with a visible light transmittance (VLT) of between 15-26% to stay within legal limits.
The protection of a window tint is measured in visible light transmittance, or VLT, which is the amount of light that can pass through the window.
The legal tint for all passenger cars in Western Australia must have a minimum light transmission of 35% for front windows and 20% for rear and rear VLT windows. Only the top of the windshield may have a strip of paint equal to 10% of the total area of the windshield, or the portion of the windshield above the wiper row, whichever is greater.
