Brisbane To Cook Islands Flight Time – Since we had a fast and stable internet connection while in Adelaide, Marcel did some research on our other locations. So far flights and camping are booked until June when we will be in New Zealand.
While we were “close” Marcel had been thinking for a while about whether to go to Fiji or the Cook Islands. Christiane had never heard of the Cook Islands before, but that’s what Youtube is for, right? And this might be one of the funniest travel videos ever:
Brisbane To Cook Islands Flight Time
On the way back we decided to go to the largest of the 15 Cook Islands: Rarotonga. It is also the main island. As you can see in the picture above, we fly at 12.06. from Auckland to Rarotonga and we will cross the date line on that flight. This means we leave Auckland on June 12th. in the afternoon and we arrived in Rarotonga on the 11th of June. in the evening. So we arrived even BEFORE we left.
Australia Flights 2022 / 2023
Said Hello. This also means that Christiane can celebrate her birthday twice this year. Well, congrats on that?!
Our visa allows us to visit Australia as often as we want, but we cannot stay here for more than 3 months in a row. 06.23 p.m. it’s literally back to the future or back across the date line to Australia. So when we flew back to Australia, the ‘extra day’ was deducted again as we missed June 24th and arrived on June 25th. As there are no direct flights from Rarotonga to Cairns, we stopped in Auckland and Brisbane. In Cairns we will hire a tent again and drive along the east coast (with the Great Barrier Reef) to Brisbane.

Things You Didn’t Know About The Cook Islands
Now, if you’re me, you’re starting to think, well, I’ve fished for bonefish in most places in the world, and I’d have to say the biggest ones were on Andros Island in the Bahamas or around Islamorada, Florida. If we talk about the big sea that flows brown, Argentina. rainbow? Alaska and Russia. You get the idea. But back to this statement; “the world’s largest bony fish”. It makes you think, and if you are serious about this topic, you start planning your trip.
Our planning began with a call to Mike McClelland, owner of Best of New Zealand Fly Fishing. My wife Kim and I worked with Mike when we were owners of Westbank Anglers. Mike put us in touch with John Peterson, CEO of Cook Islands Tourism North America. John and his team arranged our trip perfectly, including a direct Air NZ flight to Rarotonga, the capital of the Cook Islands, and then to/from Aitutaki via Air Rarotonga.
Mike also contacted Aitutaki’s top bonefishing guides led by Itu Davey. That Wife, Kaleena Davey, is in charge of bookings. After exchanging emails by letter, we set the fishing date and Kaleena also assured us that the guide can be flexible on the date depending on the weather and our other activities.
So it all came together and we were on our way to the Cook Islands 15 little gems with a land area of about 240 square kilometers spread over 2.25 million.
