We had a great long bank holiday weekend at the BIG 4 in Helensvale. We didn’t actually see the kids all weekend, they were busy hanging out with new friends, swimming, jumping on pillows, riding bikes and going down slides.
One of the best things about the BIG 4 Gold Coast Holiday Resort is its huge swimming pool, which is surrounded by flaming lights at night. It’s always full of activity, boasting a waterslide with plenty of poolside cabanas.
Besides, no resort is complete without a spa. My only complaint was that the spa was always so full that I never felt like I could dive in and relax in peace.
Big4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Gold Coast, Qld
Our visit was in winter when the water in the pool was warm. I didn’t feel like the water was very warm, but the heat took the edge off.
Play structure of any Holiday Park in the Southern Hemisphere. Very interesting, huh! You can bet your bottom dollar that the kids will be spending most of their time here at the water park – and can you blame them?
Foot Pool is a large form of pool, except you have a field instead of a table. The goal of the game is to be the first to “fat” all your balls in any bag by hitting them with the ball.
A dog park for all angry four-legged visitors. It is fully fenced and has several tunnels and paths for your dog to sniff and explore.
Tweed Coast: Big4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park
If you enjoy old lawns, you’ll definitely love bocce. The object of the game is to get one of your balls next to ‘Pallino’ or ‘Jack’.
BIG 4 Gold Coast Holiday Park is located in a beautiful riverside location. It’s easy to walk from your campsite down the water. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, why not grab a kayak or canoe and explore your surroundings on the water.
Have you tried frisbee golf before? It’s like traditional golf, except you use frisbees instead of golf balls. The head of the reception holds a frisbee, children (big and small) will love it.
I can’t say I’ve ever been to a theme park with a remote control car track before, but there it is. Yes, our kids actually had RC cars in the van when we visited, so they took them out and took them for a spin around the track.
Big4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Southport
It’s not big, but it’s still fun. You’ll find a trail behind the park and all the other activities (like frisbee golf, bocce, lap pool and dog park). There is plenty of space for driving and walking.
As you would expect, there is a beautiful, modern games room with a fireplace, table tennis, billiards and table football. If there are no balls, you may need to check with the front desk.
Next to the Playhouse is the Arcade Room, with all the fancy machines that parents hate, but kids love! You know them…
Our kids spent a lot of time there with friends they made throughout the park. It’s all an important part of holiday fun.
