Owned by Brisbane City Council, the cemetery was opened in 1999 in the grounds of Mount Gravatt Cemetery in Nathan’s South. It has audio/visual equipment, a viewing room and an air-conditioned restaurant. About 110 people can be accommodated.

The funeral director delivers the casket to the funeral home for the funeral service held at a church or private institution. Most cremations are done immediately after the service (if possible). The ashes will be ready for collection or placement at the memorial site within a few days.

Reservations are required to view the memorial options available at Mount Gravatt Cemetery. To request a reservation, please email the office.

The cemetery provides a designated place for returning soldiers and their spouses. These include grass cemeteries and walls for ashes.

The location of the grassy graves and remains is easier at Mount Gravatt Cemetery. The assignment number is marked in the lower right corner of most sheets and goes in order.

Not all monuments are counted because the monument area is old. Counting was introduced in the late 1900s. The Council recommends visiting the cemetery during business hours for assistance and instruction. Or email the office to request a map. Enter the details of the cemetery, including the name of the deceased.

A map of the cemetery may help to locate the site, showing parts of the cemetery, roads and buildings. Each section may have hundreds or thousands of graves.

The Great Northern Garden of Remembrance is a family-run funeral home that recently renovated the chapel and added an air-conditioned recovery room. Located on Bayside Brisbane, next to Fleming Road Reserve. This place is rich in social history and many of our pioneers are buried there. There are several audiovisual facilities, a viewing room and an air-conditioned restaurant. It can accommodate about 115 people.

Brisbane City Council’s Pinaloo Crematorium is located at Bridgman Downs on Brisbane’s north side. Pinaloo is bordered by beautiful waterways and the natural bush is home to many native animals. The grounds are popular for walking, jogging and bird watching.

If the funeral is held in a private church or institution, the funeral director will deliver the coffin directly to the crematorium. Most cremations take place immediately after the service and the ashes are ready to be collected or placed at the memorial site within three business days.
