We start our Kakadu tour heading to the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park, with a stop at Australia’s famous Bark Hut for a quick refreshment. On arrival in Kakadu enjoy a picnic lunch at Anbangbang Billabong with panoramic views across the billabong to Burrunguy (Nourlangie Rock). After lunch, explore the castle below Burrunguy and learn about the history of stonework and the spiritual significance of this area to its Aboriginal owners, before climbing to the top of Gunwhardewharde to see the amazing views of Arnhem Land and Forest all around.
Tonight, stay west at Cooinda Lodge where you can enjoy a swim in the pool before embarking on a 2-hour Sunset Cruise on the famous Yellow River. Here we will have the opportunity to see rare animals including many birds and crocodiles in their habitat.
A Luxury Tour Of Kakadu National Park And The Top End
This morning after breakfast, we headed to Gunlom market in southern Kakadu. A hike to the top is rewarded with a swim in the natural pool that is available at South Kakadu Viewpoint. The lower pool is a must-see with its oasis-like beach and another swim before lunch.
This afternoon we visit Maguk (Barramundi Valley). A 1-kilometer hike through leafy forests and scrub leads to a cool swimming pool in a beautiful setting. Time permitting, we visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre, this is a great opportunity to gain knowledge about the traditional owners of Kakadu through exhibits and demonstrations.

Start your 3-day tour of Kakadu and Katherine Gorge with a cruise on the Adelaide River, home to over 1,600 crocodiles, on a crocodile-hopping trip. Keep a close eye on these prehistoric creatures as your guide makes the alligator jump into the water. You will then go to Kakadu National Park. Covering 20,000 square kilometers, Kakadu is a World Heritage Site. The combination of coastal plains, large flood plains, low mountains, and forested areas make Kakadu one of the most diverse regions you will ever see. There are many animals, species of birds and different insects and plants. Enjoy lunch before stopping at the Marrawuddi Gallery. Continue to Ubirr, where you’ll climb through an ancient stone arch believed to be 20,000 years old, for stunning views of the surrounding marshland. (lunch included)
Guided tour to see Nourlangie’s traditional art. Continue to the Warradjan Cultural Center and see an informative display of the indigenous traditions of Kakadu. Enter the famous Yellow Billabong Lagoon to see saltwater crocodiles and the colorful wildlife the area is famous for. This afternoon, head to Katherine, the third largest city in the Northern Territory, often referred to as ‘the countryside meets the heat’. (lunch included)

Enjoy a morning walk through Katherine Gorge, one of the most visited places in Australia’s Top End, a beautiful channel of thirteen rivers carved out of billion-year-old sandstone that is home to many springs and waterfalls, flowing from the Katherine River. The cruise will take you into the heart of Katherine Gorge for freshwater crocodiles, rich birdlife and some of the most spectacular views of the Northern Territory. Then check into the Nitmiluk Visitor Center. The museum and exhibition houses a large collection of flora, fauna and fossils of the park. If you want to buy our souvenirs of Nitmiluk, the center has souvenirs and antiques made by Jawoyn’s hands. Next stop at Pine Creek and the mining town, then stop at the Adelaide War Cemetery, the resting place of those who died in the Second World War on Darwin, before returning to Darwin.
